It became evident that we couldn't keep operating out of a house and through various volunteer locations. We moved into our new office in Mid-City, Los Angeles, and named it 'The Labelle Depot'.
This move was pivotal to our operations and changed how we ran our rescue. While we never wanted a facility to keep dogs, and remain foster based, we were happy to have a place to house all our supplys to give our network.
Now, we were able to directly intake animals at our location which was just under 1000 sq. ft., get them medically cleared & checked, hold the countless supplies needed, pass off animals to our fosters, and coordinate meet and greets with our fosters and adopters at a secure location!

As the pandemic progressed and it became clear people would need to return to work, we realized the need to have dedicated adoption coordinators. We were venturing into new territory of volume and placing dogs was so important to carefully place them in their forever homes.
As we were still only over just a year old at this point, we'd later realize it added more work to our plates and that we would require a lesser amount of coordinators, but ones that were on staff.
Once hired, they were able to help efficiently manage all adoptions so we could focus on our continued lifesaving work.

We had done such a great job engaging the community, that we had a vast network of fosters, and eager adopters ready to love on doggies!
At the end of July we had placed 250 dogs in just one month and we were blown away! We were humbled by our community.
The demand for dogs during the pandemic was shocking and let us to really use voice to advocate for responsible pet ownership.

Without the community, Labelle is nothing, we set out to give back as often as we could. We sponsored our first-annual 'Spay & Neuter' and 'Animal Vax Clinic' in Mexico to help underserved communities lessen the spread of contagious diseases and help as many animals as possible.
When participating in events like this, and when our community works together, we can slow the spread of contagious diseases across Mexicali, Merced, Riverside, and Bakersfield, as these areas are some of the closest to us.
It is our dream to eradicate the aforementioned issues so we won't have to rescue animals in these areas.

In March 2020, the pandemic began and Labelle had to help clear out Bakersfield shelter. The Labelle Foundation was able to rescue 36 euth-listed large breed dogs!
At the beginning of the pandemic here in the US all shelters closed their doors to intake and adoption, thus putting rescue in a new type of crisis. The foundation jumped into action sending out an urgent plea and over 200 amazing hopeful fosters showed up for these animals.
It is a full-circle moment for us. The parking lot where we had the dogs transferred to and where everyone showed up to help, is now home to our new business Belle's Boarding and Baths!

End of 2019!

We were born & officially Incorporated in the state of California!
After volunteering full-time for 7 years with various rescues, the Labelle family decided they should create their own. While a lot was learned by other rescues, their passion was different and specific to concentrating on the most vulnerable neonatal orphans and lactating mommies.
They made the easy choice to step forward and apply their ideas instead of sitting back and watching from the sidelines, thus the Labelle Foundation was formed.
