Tuesday, Jan. 7th

Once the fires began, our team quickly developed an immediate plan of action for the animals we knew would be affected, though we couldn’t have anticipated the full scope of what was to follow.

Wednesday, Jan. 8th

• Opened space at Belle’s Boarding & Bath in Mid-City to provide no-cost shelter and a safe haven for animals affected by the fires, including those evacuated with their owners.

• Accepted (25) new dogs from Bakersfield Shelter at our Foundation HQ 

• Took in (2) cats & a team partner affected by smoke & negative air quality 

• Visited the Pasadena Humane Society to donate dog & general animal supplies.

• Planned to pull animals (from Pasadena) in need of foster care, but fortunately, three other shelters took all remaining dogs during our visit.

Thursday, Jan. 9th

• Took in (30) rescue dogs from Bakersfield  Shelter

• Expanded efforts to grow our foster network to accommodate more animals in the following days.

• Took in (12) tarantulas for safe haven due to someone affected in the fire evacuation zone

• Took in (13) bunnies from Experience Fable after their petting zoo burned down in Altadena

• Began accepting additional supply donations from external parties & our community.

• Created an Action Team to create a distribution plan for donated supplies.

• Distributed excess supplies to Sylmar, Agoura Hills, Pan Pacific Park, Pet Orphans in Encino, Westwood Rec Center, local churches and other areas affected by the fires.

Friday, Jan. 10th

• Held no-cost (to owner) daycare for first responders, medical personnel, and volunteers 

• Began bathing any dogs who were covered in ash, matted, or generally in need of care.

• Took in (30) rescue dogs from Bakersfield, San Bernardino, and Santa Clarita and ran in-house veterinarian & health checks

• Distributed supplies to Pasadena City College, Hollywood YMCA, Industry Hill Expo Center, Lancaster Animal Care Center, Palmdale Animal Care Center, Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, Downey Animal Care Center, North Central Animal Shelter, East Valley Animal Shelter, West Valley Animal Shelter, and Rainbow Acres.

Saturday, Jan. 11th

• Took in (21) new rescue dogs from Bakersfield 

• Sent our Action Team to our warehouse partners in Chatsworth for a supply refill

• Rescued (2) large huskies from Agora Hills

• (2) dogs fully recovered from Parvo treatment

• Distributed supplies to The Dream Center, Collins & Katz Family YMCA,  Pasadina YMCA,  and  to several other addresses that were requesting support 

• Gather Supplies for & Packaged Fire & Police Supply Essential Kits and distributed them to frontline workers and base camps through our network, in close collaboration with first responders.

• Before closing for the evening, we took in an adorable mom & (6) babies from San Bernardino Shelter

Sunday, Jan. 12th

• Distributed supplies to Friend of Animals Foundation, The Dream Center, Collins & Katz Family YMCA, Western Veterinary Center, Uncle Pauline’s Deli, Yada Dance Studio, Normandie Ave Seventh Day Adventist, Shadow Grove Brewery, Santa Anita YMCA, Monrovia High School Clothing Drive, YMCA South Pasadena, Westchester YMCA, Anderson Munger YMCA, Mid Valley YMCA, and Culver Palms YMCA and other areas affected by the fires

• Began opening up a clothing section at Belle’s Boarding & Bath, where families & individuals affected by the fires can browse and select brand-new clothing free of charge. 

• Opened free vet care through our vet partner 'Sevilla Veterinary Hospital' for any animals injured due to the fires.

• Provided transport to/from the vet through our "Action Team" and  community volunteers

• Ongoing distribution of supply kits and items to frontline workers through our network, maintaining close cooperation with first responders.

 • Took in a lost cat rescued from the Sunset Fire for observation and safe haven, with pressing eye and digestion issues that developed upon arrival.

Monday, Jan. 13th

• Distributed supplies to ‘Chirla’, The Community Coalition, South LA Shelter, The Lovejoy Foundation, The National Day Laborer Organizing Network, and  Vine Street Chabad
• Sent volunteers to pick up a mom and her (5) babies from Tehachapi, who required veterinary care.

• Sent resources, along with cat and dog supplies, to a storage site for use by the ‘Ace of Hearts’ rescue, which unfortunately burned down.

• Received donations and care packages for frontline firefighters and shipped them out to basecamp through our community partners.

• Organized in-house vet checks to continue monitoring the health of the animals that have been taken in.

• Sent volunteers with Trucks to a warehouse partner in Carson to pick up supplies.

• Accepted gift cards to local and national retailers for individuals who currently lack space for clothing and other household items. These will be distributed as part of our free retail boutique space.

Tuesday, Jan. 14th

• Rescued (2) stray dogs found roaming the area; neither had microchips, and they are now under our care until owners are located.

• Hosted volunteer vet for  wellness checks

• Delivered animal supplies to Caatfriends, South LA Animal Shelter, and Jules Towner Dog Training

• Delivered human supplies to Chabad of Pasadena and Chabad of Hollywood.

• Distributed human and pet supplies to Ketchum Downtown YMCA, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School, Venice Helping Hub, and Moss Venice.

• Provided animal supplies to multiple rescues, including The Lovejoy Foundation, Sunny Day Acres in Agua Dulce (also took in one new dog from this location), and Mad Love Animal Rescue,.

• Continued caring for the mother and her five puppies received yesterday.

• Received and organized additional supplies with the help of our volunteers.

• Acquired new clothing racks and collaborated with volunteers to expand our free retail boutique space.

• Placed additional dogs in foster care.

Wednesday, Jan. 15th 

• Donated Animal Excess Stock to  Giving Generously & (2) Cat Rescues in Chatsworth, CA

• Donated Human & Excess Animal Items to  Chirla & Scope.

• Provided additional supplies to firefighters on the front lines to support their efforts.

• Organized donated items to address immediate needs and better assist the community in the coming weekend.

• Hosted an additional volunteer veterinarian to conduct wellness checks.

• Opened a dedicated men’s clothing section in the free boutique at the front of Belle’s.

Thursday, Jan. 16th 

• Delivered an extensive shipment of cat and dog supplies to the Kern County Shelter.

• Donated water, hygiene products, clothing, and food to the Hollywood Chabad.

• Collected additional bunny supplies from Sherman Oaks for the adorable bunnies we’ve cared for since nearly the beginning.

• Welcomed another volunteer veterinarian to conduct wellness checks.

• Received additional supplies and racks for our Men’s Boutique, and our team began sorting clothing by size and type.

• Sent another supply run to support front-line firefighters.

• Organized all food and beverage items by category to streamline dispatch and better serve families and shelters in need.

• Our Action Team delivered dog and cat supplies directly to families displaced by the fires.

• Sent out (50) hot meals for the ‘Cal Hotshots,’ generously cooked by Juliet’s Kitchen.

Friday, Jan. 17th 

• Distributed additional humanitarian supplies from Belle’s to local Chabad centers.

• Sent another round of meals, supplies, and clothing to frontline firefighters and first responders.

• Took in (1) lost cat found at a park.

• Assisted several men on-site by providing clothing, water, and food after their homes were lost in Altadena.

• Sent excess clothing to the Salvation Army on Pico, near Alvarado Street.

• Began preparations for our large-scale adoption event on January 25th.

• Welcomed another incredible on-site veterinarian and hosted a free vet clinic.

• Received 24 boxes of new clothing for our boutique.

• Met with a Bakersfield transporter in Santa Clarita to deliver animal supplies and then while with them we took in (5) dogs and transported them to our HQ.

• Trapped & Rescued (1) more lost kitten from Santa Monica. Currently trying to trap & rescue the additional 5 kittens and mom on the premises.

Saturday, Jan. 18th

• Provided dog supplies to individuals on-site who were displaced by the fires.

• Delivered dog food and supplies through our action team to displaced individuals staying in hotels.

• Welcomed a previous incredible on-site veterinarian back and hosted another free vet clinic.

Sunday, Jan. 19th

• Halted acceptance of physical donations to give our action team time to thoroughly sort and organize all items.

• Began reevaluating future community and animal needs.

Monday, Jan. 20th

• Reinstated our Action Team to dispatch and deliver supplies to those in need.

• Began accepting select physical donations once again.

• Provided on-site assistance to individuals displaced by the fires through our Men’s and Women’s Boutique.

• Added new men’s clothing to the inventory at our Men’s Boutique at Belle’s Boarding & Bath.

• Delivered hygiene products and essential clothing items to frontline firefighters and first responders.

Tuesday, Jan. 21st   

• Trapped & Rescued Mom and (1) additionally lost kitten from the Santa Monica location mentioned in previous days bringing our total to (3) Kittens rescued thus far.

• Continued to provide on-site assistance to individuals displaced by the fires through our Men’s and Women’s Boutique.

• Sent out (3) Extra-Large Shipments of Human Supplies to The Venice Hub,  The Pasadena Chabad,  the Pasadena Church, The Pasadena Job Center, and A Foster Care & Youth Development Center for kids in Woodland Hills

• Sent out Animal Supplies to A Cat Rescue in Chatsworth,

• Worked with our Foster & Adoption teams to prepare for tomorrow’s new animal intake and in-house veterinary checks.
 

Wednesday, Jan. 22nd  [UPCOMING] 

• Continue to provide on-site assistance to individuals displaced by the fires through our Men’s and Women’s Boutique.

• Taking in  (17) rescue dogs from Bakersfield Shelter.

• Running in-house veterinarian & health checks on both foster & newly rescued animals.
